SESSION 1: REDEFINING SUSTAINABLE INNOVATION – TRANSFORMING BUSINESS TO SERVE PEOPLE AND PLANET

This session will reexamine what “sustainability” and “innovation” mean in a crisis context – beyond high-tech fixes and short-term profit. What is the purpose of business? How can we redesign a business to serve people and planet? Are we deceiving ourselves when we think growth can be green, or that infinite growth can happen sustainably on a finite planet? As we consider the “out-of-the-box” innovation needed, first, what is the “box” that we need to think outside of?

  • Why innovate? Inside the “box”: motives driving innovation and if it’s sustainable.
  • What does a world in crisis need now? The role that businesses can play.
  • Business As Unusual: strategies for transforming your business to serve people and planet.
